There are a closeness and an intimacy between Damon and Elena that disarm me. After a summer together they’re close than ever. It isn’t obvious just because their friendship is stronger and they care for each other, it’s obvious also in the small gestures and in the little things. It’s in the way she asks for his drink when she’s upset (a Damon’s habit) and he lets her take it. It’s in the way she lets him come closer to her and he caresses her hair. It’s in the way they cook together and have fun at the same time. It’s in the way he tries to comfort her with a drink and with a caress on her knee. It’s in the way she lets him take care of her when she constantly doesn’t want anyone to look after her. It’s in the way they play with each other even faking a bite because she knows he would never hurt her. It’s in the way she’s at ease with him by her side and lets him be in her bed while she sleeps. It’s in the way she’s able to calm him down just taking his face between her hands. I loved this first half of season 3. I loved how their bond is so strong and beautiful. I love seeing them become closer and closer. They have something unique.
